Objective: 

To expose students to all the great movements in European & French history before focusing on the last two centuries and to teach representative masterpieces from the 19th century.

Unit I: 

 

[Brief & rapid review of all the major periods before 19th century. --starting from Greek tragedy, the Middle ages, Renaissance, Classicism, Enlightenment—are done.

However, questions are to be set only from the core syllabus, comprising the 19th (for the 5th) and 20th (for the 6th sem.) century movements].
