This paper
a) retraces the journey of French literature through the last century .Te movements / inspirations covered are : dadaism, surrealism, theatre of the absurd, existentialism and the new novel and
b) focuses on the specific genre of poetry and the movements / inspirations covered are dadaism, surrealism, literature of faith (religious inspiration), committed literature, post-war poetry
( however, major individual poets whose works do not easily l themselves to such classifications will also be studied. Note also that some of the movements are dominated by theatre and prose and that the poems to be studied in the same papery need strictly correspond to those movements )
