Objective: 

This course will enable students to unveil French Classicism: aesthetics, authors, context. Critique & contrast texts, appreciating intrinsic value and intertextual connections.

Socio-political & cultural conditions prevailing in France before and during the “Age of Classicism”,

Classical norms of literature, Boileau, Introductory lecture on the great playwrights such as , Corneille, Racine & Moliere

Study of the poem “Histoire de la poesie francaise” (Boileau) Study of the fable “La cour du lion”(La Fontaine)
