Les mouvements litteraires et la poesie du 20e siecle [1]

Objective: 

This paper

a) retraces the journey of French literature through the last century .Te movements / inspirations  covered are :dadaism, surrealism, theatre of the absurd, existentialism and the new novel  

and

b) focuses on the specific genre of poetry and the movements /               inspirations  covered are dadaism, surrealism, literature of faith (religious    inspiration), committed literature, post-war poetry

( however, major individual poets whose works do not easily lend themselves to such  classifications will also be studied. Note also that some of the movements are dominated by theatre and prose and thatthe poems  to be studied in the same papery need strictly correspond to thosemovements )

Study of  “Cors de chasse”, “Rosemonde” “Zone”(from Alcools by Apollinaire)

Movements : dadaisme, surrealisme

Study of  an extract from "La glace sans tain"from the collection  « Les Champs magnétiques»by  André Breton and Philippe Soupault.

Study of  “Le miroir d’un moment”, “Bonne justice” and “Le Phenix”(Eluard)

Movements : literature of faith (religious inspiration), theatre of the absurd

Study of  “La Messe la-bas”(Claudel)

Study of  “Heureux  ceux qui sont morts…” (Peguy)

Movement : existentialism

Study of “L'huître", "La bougie","L'allumette", "L'orange”, "Les poêles", "Le platane ou la permanance" and « Le cageot » (Francis Ponge)
